VINEET Joshi has been named the interim head of India’s University Grants Commission (UGC) following the retirement of Professor Mamidala Jagadesh Kumar. Joshi will be leading the Commission till a new chairman is announced.

Joshi has held several prominent positions in the education sector, including Director-General of the National Testing Agency (NTA), Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Education, among others. He has played an important role in driving driving examination reform, curriculum development and governance at these organizations.

Joshi holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade.
