A total of 54 Indian universities have made it to this year’s QS World University Rankings 2026, their best ever performance so far. This includes 12 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Eight universities have made their debut. These are: IIT Gandhinagar, Lovely Professional University (LPU), Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, Ashoka University, Galgotias University, Shiv Nadar University, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Bengaluru and Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS).
India is now the fourth most represented country, after the United States, the United Kingdom and China.
