Two Indian Institutes of Technology – at Mandi and Gandhinagar – will be offering training programmes in India’s traditional knowledge systems for Delhi’s school teachers. The programmes are designed to bridge the gap between modern education and India’s age-old knowledge traditions.

The initiative, expected to roll out in September, is a bid to familiarise educators with Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), covering subjects such as Philosophy, Sanskrit, Arts, Sciences, and ancient texts, including the Vedas and the Upanishads. The programmes will also feature modules on Ayurveda, Yoga, and other aspects of India’s cultural and intellectual heritage.

In the first phase, at least 50 government school teachers will be shortlisted and grouped into batches of five. They will be trained over five to seven days at the two institutes.
