Violence erupted on Lovely Professional University’s campus at Punjab’s Kapurthala district following an allegation of a sexual assault on campus that surfaced on Reddit. According to the university management, masked outsiders were responsible for vandalism inside and outside the campus. National Highway 44 was blocked for more than 15 hours and there were extensive damages to university property. Classes were suspended and many students returned home fearing more violence. Punjab Police warned of action against those responsible.
